Texting is one of those things everybody seems to do, but should you text with your boss? Career coach Marie McIntyre says the first step is checking if your company has a policy on texting. If there isn’t one, she says you need to lay down expectations about texting with your boss before you start doing it.
She says, “Have a conversation to determine preferences and reach an agreement on when you are going to use what form of communication.” She suggests texting your boss should be used for quick questions, not long-winded explanations, and if you’re a boss, you should be careful about texting your employees as it can lead to burnout among employees.
In addition, she cautions that “texting can open up a company to various legal issues.”
