Person of interest sought in Walmart shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police are hoping someone recognizes a shooting suspect. Investigators released an image of the man they say may have gunned down 20-year-old Andre Leslie on Sunday afternoon. The image comes from security cameras at the Walmart where police say the shooting happened.
Officials say that just before 6:00 p.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 5300 block of Coldwater Road for the shooting call.

Upon officers arrival, they located an adult male victim on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased by the Emergency Room Physician.

The Allen County Coroner released the following on Monday:

“The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of the shooting investigation located in the
Walmart parking lot, 5311 Coldwater Road, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana during the
early evening hours of June 16, 2019. The shooting victim was transported from the scene to
a local hospital where death was pronounced a short time after arrival.
The autopsy has been completed, and notification has been made to the next of kin of Andre
Paris Leslie, Male Black 20 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. The
Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Andre Paris Leslie is the 12th homicide in 2019 for Allen County, Indiana.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen
County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.”

Detectives were advised that there was possibly individuals passing by at the time of the incident that may have recorded the incident by means of their cell phones. Police released a grainy photo captured by Walmart surveillance late on Monday.
