Coroner identifies man killed in Barr Street shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One man has died after a shooting Sunday afternoon. Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of S. Barr Street just before 4:00 p.m. on the reported shooting. Once on scene, a male was found down inside the residence. He was transported to a local hospital where died a short time later.
Investigators found several spent shell casings in an alleyway on the north side of the home which suggests that the incident occurred outside and the victim made his way into the home where he collapsed. The home itself was damaged by several rounds that hit the exterior walls. The Allen County Coroner’s office will release the identity of the victim as well as the cause and manner of death when appropriate to do so.

Late Monday morning, the Allen County Coroner’s Office said that the victim was identified as Truvarus L. Giddens, Jr. male black, 22 years of age, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound(s) and the Manner of Death has been determined to be Homicide.

Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance by providing them with any details that might have been witnessed prior to, during or immediately following the incident.
