Investigation launched after jail suicide in Allen County


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Jailers in Fort Wayne have some questions to answer. Allen County’s coroner yesterday said jail inmate Perry Ziko hanged himself inside the jail this week. Ziko was waiting for a hearing on domestic violence charges. He was supposed to be in court yesterday. The Allen County sheriff’s office is investigating.
The Allen County Coroner released the following on Tuesday afternoon:

“The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified at about 14:50 hours on September 14, 2019 of an incident at the Allen County Jail. The decedent, Perry M. Ziko, male white 44 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana was pronounced deceased at the Allen County Jail at about
15:20 hours. An autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of the death. The Cause of Death is Asphyxia due to Hanging and the Manner of Death is Suicide.
This incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.”
